Robert Pattinson Is the New Batman -- and We're Freaking Out

"Twilight," "Harry Potter" alum to star in "The Batman," due out in 2021; scores role over "X-Men" standout Nicholas Hoult  


Robert Pattinson has been signed to star in The Batman, the new Caped Crusader movie. The film, to be directed by Matt Reeves (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, War for the Planet of the Apes), is scheduled to open in theaters in 2021. 

Pattinson, 32, rose to fame playing vampire Edward Cullen in the Twilight franchise. The actor reportedly won the part of Bruce Wayne/Batman over the X-Men movies' Nicholas Hoult. Pattinson inherits a role most recently played by Ben Affleck in 2017's Justice League.
