While Americans were shooting fireworks and watching Joey Chestnut devour 74 hot dogs in 10 minutes on July 4, one beloved superhero was celebrating a momentous occasion.

“Happy 4th everyone!!” Evans tweeted Wednesday. “I love this country and I’m proud of how far we’ve come. Be safe today! Also, Happy Birthday to a very good friend of mine. I hear 100 is the new 20.”

That’s right. Steve Rogers, better known as Captain America, was born on July 4, 1918, according to a scene in Captain America: The First Avenger.
